A Wedding Blessing

For Liam and Imperatrix Pulcherrima Africae Occidentalis

"In the Spirit of Dance" by Chidi Okoye

We bathe your palms...

In the showers of wine,
In the crook of the kindling,
In the seven elements,
In the sap of the tree,
In the milk of honey,

We place nine pure, choice gifts
In your clear beloved faces:

The gift of form,
The gift of voice,
The gift of fortune,
The gift of goodness,
The gift of eminence,
The gift of charity,
The gift of integrity,
The gift of true nobility,
The gift of apt speech.

Oh, good idea, Jeff! I think I'll put up something too :-)

Jeff, that is incredibly nice. Both Romelle and I are very touched. Thank you. Will blog details when we get back from the honeymoon.

Jeff,

That's really great. It was a wonderful wedding - Irish & Liberian, what's not to love? traditional Irish music at the rehearsal dinner - African music and dancing at the wedding. Wow. I'll let Liam tell you about it when he gets back.

Speaking of palms, Liam tried to kill me with a 12-foot potted palm. I told the story at Crystal's. Won't repeat it here.

Can I just say, after a bachelor party, a rehearsal dinner and a wedding reception with a large Irish family, my liver has pretty much had it.

Yesterday was recovery (day one) with some bad football and baseball games. [Congratulations (sigh) on the Red Sox.]

Beautiful blessing and painting. Very nice job.

Liam,

Congratulations to you and Romelle. Have a great honeymoon.

William,

Yes, I read the story over at Crystal's. Instead of bathing the palms, it sounds like the palms bathed you.

How long are you going to tolerate this endless stream of humiliations at the hands of Liam. Oh, the humanity...
