Triduum

Jesus Washing Peter's Feet, by Ford Madox Brown (c. 1852-1856)

The "Anima Christi"

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within thy sacred wounds hide me.
From the wicked enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come to thee
that with thy saints I may praise thee
forever and ever. Amen

-- St. Ignatius Loyola

Thanks Liam & Crystal. I hope you had a great Easter.

Winnipeg,

Thanks for visiting. I've paid a visit, I'd love to stop by and comment. Thanks for the link, although please be aware that I can't be counted on to always come down on either the progressive or conservative side. Just ask Liam. He's been commenting here for a year and hasn't linked me yet. :-)

Then again, looking over you site, the same may be said of you as well. :-)

Peace!

Your blog has a lot of great content!

How is the book on Matthew btw? Does it really dig into some of the tougher Sermon on the Mount issues?

BTW - I am also a Bostonian these days. Were you at the Boston Men's Catholic Conference?

All the Best,

Hi B,

What's your name, if you don't mind my asking?

Do you have an email account with Amazon? If so, you can use their "10 page" feature to have a look a the book itself.

Go here and look at page 52 in 'Lifting the Burden'.

Basically, Byrne is stating that in the Sermon on the Mount, Christ is outlining the way of life that should characterize the church. These are not everyday values being described in the Beatitudes, but part of a divine project to humanize/divinize the world; a project carried out by a community that is prepared to pay the cost associated with living by that vision.

So you're in the Boston area, eh? I went to the first Boston Catholic Men's Conference in 2005. I haven't been back since, even though it was nice to see guys and priests from other parishes I hadn't seen in a long, long time.

The speakers were a real mixed bag. Jim Towey was excellent. Some of the things that Fr. Larry Richards and Tom Monaghan said, on the other hand, I found to be really creepy and disturbing. Jim Caviezel was very interesting, but pretty intense. He seems to carry a lot of anger and bitterness around with him.

No, I haven't been back. To tell you the truth, the whole Ave Maria/Steubenville vision that is stamped as the character of the thing really doesn't appeal to me that much. I'm in sort of in a different place right now.

All right Jeff -- you got me. I will put you on my links. The reason I haven't done that is that I haven't updated my links in about a year because I am afraid of html.

I hope you had a great Easter.

I was just yanking yer chain, Liam. Don't worry about it. We had a terrific Easter, thanks. Hope yours was good as well.

ummm what's steubenville/Ave Maria refer to? I enjoyed going to mass with Cardinal Sean, he strikes me as a very dynamic person and I have high hopes for him helping our diocese out of its mess. I'd say that is 90% of the reason I went. I was surprised by the local who gave a talk on his days as a swiss guard and his interactions with JPII. It was St. Patrick's day and of course Cardinal Sean is Irish so we talked quite a bit about St. Patrick, that was nice too. Of course that's all on Cardinal Sean's blog, but those're the highlights as i perceived them.

B is an initial, and I guess I am still a little 'paranoid' about the whole blogging thing. It's awfully personal. Then you find out someone you're happilly chatting away with is dying of cancer, or someone else is a complete psycho. I don't need that Fr. E guy acalling me out as a heretic!

All the Best,
-B

B,

I'm assuming that you have a unique name... and that you are male?

or someone else is a complete psycho.

Who would that have been?
